SI PUÒ FARE! - DA CALIGARI AGLI ZOMBIE
THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH
by Roger Corman
In the Middle Ages, an old peasant encounters a lanky figure wrapped in a red cloak who predicts she will be freed. But the plague arrives, and to escape it the cruel lord of the land, Prospero, locks himself up in his castle with his guests. Based on the same-titled short story and on Hop-Frog by Poe, Corman shoots a claustrophobic, perverse movie, buttressed by the sadistic cynicism of Vincent Price and the colors of Nicolas Roeg’s cinematography. The masked ball sequence is a classic.
